Bishu OLD MELTON Wool
Let's share your brand story.
THE LAND
Bishu, Aichi
Wool begins with water.
Water flows from the mountains of Kiso across the Nobi Plain.
The water here is soft. It's gentle on wool,
washing the fibers and allowing colors to sink in deeply.
For over a century, this region has continued to weave wool.
Not just one company, nor one factory,
but the entire production region moves quietly as one.
THE LOOM
Old Melton
Weaving slowly on unhurried looms.
Old shuttle looms operate at a fraction of the speed of modern machines.
They take all the time the fabric needs.
Because of this slow pace, the wool is not put under stress.
Air is allowed to settle between the threads.
The fabric that comes off the loom is warm, light, and soft.
Next, fulling.
It is washed and pressed, causing the fibers to intertwine densely.
A dense, windproof surface is created.
This is Melton.
THE RESULT
Melton doesn't droop. It stands.
Shoulder lines are maintained, and the hem falls straight.
That's why varsity jackets have always been made from this fabric.
It softens with wear, yet retains its shape.
This wool will become uniquely yours in a way that differs from today.
